This is WHY I hate stories like this, it's impossible to prove a negative. I was just arguing with some libschitz online about "terrified" illegal minorities, though apart from nasty comments online in general, no one had done anything bad to them. My argument was that they couldn't have been that terrified or they would have left the US

Whereas:
