After a group of 7 Egyptian immigrants allegedly gang raped a 13-year-old girl in Italy last month, corporate media outlet CNN ran the headline that the backlash from the crime was providing "fodder for an ascendant far right" in the country.

The outlet wrote that after the case from the Italian city of Catania went public, it was "seized upon as evidence that migrants should be blocked from entering the country" by the far-right.
All seven of the suspected rapists were Egyptian migrants with three of them being under 18.

In the report from CNN, reporter Barbie Latza Nadeau wrote, "Last month’s alleged gang rape in Catania has become not only a symbol of violence against women in the country, but a cause célèbre for Italy’s far-right government."
