Female murder victim found in vehicle trunk in Beaufort County



A woman’s body was found in the trunk of a car by a tow truck employee in North Carolina.

According to North Carolina’s State Bureau of Investigation, the body of Amarriah Smith, 19, was found inside the trunk of an abandoned car, but an identification from the medical examiner’s officer as well as the cause of death is pending.

The SBI says employees of Tyco Crushing had the car towed after it was left in their parking lot. The tow truck employee found the body after the car was towed to their facility.
Authorities say Thomas left his car in the Tyco Crushing parking lot and stole a truck that was parked there. The truck was later found at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital where Thomas was later arrested.

Authorities say Smith was killed at a different location and evidence was found at a home where Thomas had been living.

Thomas and Smith knew each other, according to authorities.
