The victim, identified as Jose Malave, 30, of Jersey City was found Tuesday in the doorway of his apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:25 p.m., according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
Malave died in front of his girlfriend and several of his children hours after his son was nearly robbed of his sneakers by teens. The teens then went to Malave's apartment where the murder occurred, his sister, Yesenia Malave, told nj.com.
