Hopkins rushed to the room where his 16-year-old daughter, De’Hasia, was sleeping. After grabbing her and their boxer, Buster, Hopkins ran out of the shotgun double home, which was already heavily engulfed in flames.

Next door, in the same single-story duplex at 8829-31 Birch St., flames had already torn through most of the home where little Aa’Myrie Fontenberry was sleeping.
