Hardy testified that back on May 23, 2023, she heard her grandmother scream in another room. She said she asked her mother why her grandmother was screaming, who told her something had fallen in the basement.Hardy said Craig also told her, “If she went to jail, look out for her sisters.” Craig also told her not to go into her grandma’s room.
The next day, Hardy said she was home alone when she found her grandmother dead in a blue storage bin, with a bag over her head and blood on the carpet nearby.
Hardy says her mother also cut up large chunks of the bloody carpet, bagged it and disposed of it at a nearby IHOP restaurant’s dumpster.
In the days that followed, she said they bought fire and grilling supplies at Home Depot, including a lighter stick, charcoal and a gas can. They also went to a gas station to fill the red can with gasoline.
When they got home, her mother turned on the grill.
A forensic investigator arrived and confirmed the bags contained human remains. Additionally, investigators later found a chainsaw, cutting utensils, cleaning materials, and blood spatter throughout the basement. Investigators claim human remains were on the chainsaw when it was seized from the home.
