A man charged in the slaying of a woman near Bonnie Doone earlier this month allegedly shot her to death after meeting up with her for sex, court documents in the case allege.
Raeqwon Mitchell Carlisle, 28, of Fayetteville, is charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 10 killing of Crystal Michelle Loughran, 40.
The following day in a clearing in woods off Cedric Street, Loughran's body was found shortly before 8 p.m. by a man looking for his dog. She appeared to have been shot, the record said, and a large-caliber shell casing was found near the body.
Carlisle became a suspect in the case after police allegedly found messages on Loughran's phone sent around 4:15 a.m. in which she had agreed to meet up with someone to exchange sex for money, the document states. According to the record, the last message she sent to the individual was that she was coming out of her Redwood Drive home to meet him.
Information gathered from video surveillance footage and police license plate readers allegedly showed that Loughran was picked up in a 2006 Mitsubishi Gallant with a license plate registered to Carlisle's grandmother, the record said. Police also learned that the phone used to contact Loughran was registered to his grandmother as well.
The affidavit goes on to state that 45 minutes after Loughran was picked up from her home, the Gallant was seen heading in the direction of Cedric Street. Some 40 hours later Loughran's body would be found there.
