Chicago Wants to Be the First Major US City to Run a Grocery Store
Food 'deserts' are pervasive in the Windy City, in which bodegas, not fresh groceries, are all that's available in some areas

Chicago aims to open a municipally-owned grocery store to fill food “deserts” on the city’s South and West sides.
The proposal could make the Windy City — known for densely-populated areas in which fresh groceries are hard to find — the first major urban area in the nation to own and operate its own supermarket.
Better employ cashiers and stockers with full body armor and AR15s. And lock up all the baby formula, laundry detergent and other ghetto currency behind plexi glass. ;)
Mayor Brandon Johnson, who is pushing the initiative in partnership with the Economic Security Project, a nationwide nonprofit, announced the project on Sept. 13, adding that the city will conduct a feasibility study with input from experts, community leaders and Chicago’s Food Equity Council, a city-run partnership with local advocates.
If advanced, Chicago would become “the first major city in the United States to implement a municipally owned grocery store to address food inequity,” the mayor’s office said in a statement.
If Chicago niggers would just learn how to behave, they could just get a WalMart or something.
At least six grocery stores have closed on Chicago's South and West sides over the past two years, according to the statement.
In April, Walmart announced it was closing four stores in Chicago because "these stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just five years."
