Ex-Black Hammer members detail Gazi Kodzo’s abusive ‘cult,’ which culminated in arrests for kidnapping and sexual assault

uburb of Atlanta. According to reports, someone called 911 to say they’d been kidnapped.

At least 10 people willingly exited the home, but one remained inside. Police later found the man dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Augustus C. Romain and another individual now face multiple charges over the incident. Neither has been charged in the person’s death, which has been ruled a suicide.

Romain, who faces seven charges including aggravated sodomy; conspiracy to commit a felony; false imprisonment; kidnapping; aggravated assault; and criminal street gang activity, is better known as Gazi Kodzo. The address in question is a home to Black Hammer, the organization Kodzo runs that ostensibly fights for the rights of the oppressed.

Those that knew Kodzo accuse them of operating it like a “cult.”

Over the past year, former members spoke out against Kodzo, releasing a Google Drive file with testimonials that allege abuse, manipulation, and other frightening behavior. Their online effort has tried to keep people away from Black Hammer, highlighting the experiences they’ve had that left them shaken to their core.

Black Hammer—which says its goal is to repatriate land to colonized people and supports pan-African ideology—has been better known for its online stunts. It conducted a campaign on Twitter to brand Anne Frank a “Karen” and used social media to live stream its in-person antics.

The charges of sodomy are interesting, because David Horowitz who was a close associate of the Black Panthers (before quitting the left and seeing the light) says that Black Panther leader Huey Newton sodomized his underling Bobby Seale as punishment for disobedience. He even had to have his butthole repaired by a surgeon LOL.

One evening during a small dinner party at Huey Newton’s apartment in 1974, Newton vented his rage at Seale because the latter had failed to adequately discipline someone within the Party. After ordering his guards to savagely beat and whip Seale, Newton personally sodomized him with such violence that Seale had to have his anus surgically repaired by a Pacific Heights doctor who was a political supporter of the Panthers. Soon thereafter, Seale, fearful that Newton might kill him, relocated to Philadelphia. He did not return again to Oakland until August 1989, shortly after Newton’s death.[2]

While living in Philadelphia during the late 1970s and virtually all of the ’80s, Seale served ten years as a teacher and community liaison officer for Temple University’s Afro-American Studies Department.[3] He also had roles in the films Rude Awakening (1989) and Malcolm X (1992).

In 2002, Seale, identifying himself as a “political revolutionary humanist,” relocated to Oakland in order to work with young radicals dedicated to social and political change. At a Black Panther reunion that same year, Seale, to the shock of many in the audience, declared that “Race is bullsh**!”; that the Nation of Islam claim that an evil scientist had created whites in a laboratory was fictitious; that radicals’ preoccupation with Marxism was largely an exercise in “intellectual masturbation”; and that the revolution he now sought to promote had nothing to do with violence: “I don’t see the relevance of guns,” said Seale.
