Many years ago, we knew an EMT, who was a notorious IV drug abuser. The first thing he'd do
on a serious rescue call would be injecting painkiller into his own wrist.
I like the Brazilian cop's method of care for criminals. They shoot them full of holes first, then
about an hour later they heave them into an open pickup bed. They head for other crime scenes,
and add to the pile. After arriving at the morgue, they unload the stiffs. Any that are still alive get
brought to the hospital, but they're in no hurry.
