Metro Nashville Police took 80-year-old Charles Allen Sr. and 58-year-old Yolanda Newsome into custody on Thursday. Police say their 20-month-old grandson, Korran Newsome, died in August from acute fentanyl intoxication.
Investigators said baby Korran was in the care of his grandparents on Aug. 6, 2021 while his mom was working. The child was reportedly in bed with his grandparents that night when he stopped breathing.
After CPR was performed, Korran was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
