Wendy Hall, 33, left Malakye inside the property in Lindley Road, Bradford, on 11 August last year.

The little boy managed to get out of their locked home and at around 10pm he was hit by a car and fatally injured in an incident on Manchester Road.

Bradford Crown Court heard Hall had left her mobile phone with Malakye for him to play on while she went to see her partner, but it appeared he got out of the house shortly after she left.

There was no electricity or gas in the house at the time.

Hall pleaded guilty to the neglect charge and was jailed for three years.

She also received an additional 18 months in prison for other matters.
