A source said the the royal finds it all to be “terribly difficult,” especially while tensions continue to run high between his two sons.
Charles knows that only one of them is his and the other one is shacked up with a she boon.
Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly both planning on delivering speeches for the special occasion on Thursday that marks what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday. But according to a source who spoke to the UK Times, the Prince of Wales is concerned the event will unearth too many painful emotions. “He does find it terribly difficult,” the insider said. “These moments have the potential to resurface old wounds, and it brings back memories for him; happy, sad, regretful. Since Diana’s death, he has felt it’s best to keep those memories to himself and leave his sons to it.” Charles and Diana divorced in 1996, one year before her untimely death in a car crash in Paris.
The unveiling ceremony held in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden has been five years in the making, hence why a source previously told Vanity Fair that the brothers have agreed to call a temporary truce for the day.
