DANVILLE — Four Danville youths have been accused of killing two other teens, including one of their own friends, during the course of a drug deal that went horribly wrong over the weekend in Oakwood.

Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy on Tuesday filed multiple counts of murder and other felonies against three of the teens in adult court and similar counts against a 15-year-old old in juvenile court.

Lacy confirmed that Clayvonte M. Sloan, 15, of Rantoul, who died Sunday afternoon at an Urbana hospital, was part of the group who allegedly intended to rob Wyatt Bailey, 19, of Oakwood, who was also killed during the drug deal gone bad.

In a news release from the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday afternoon, police say the investigation indicated that Sloan, Griggs, Halthon, Bryant and a the 15-year-old went to Bailey’s residence in Oakwood at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday for a drug transaction. The five individuals then tried to rob Bailey, police said. During the altercation that followed, Bailey and Sloan suffered gunshot wounds.

Always makes my day to hear about a dead groid, particularly one of reproductive age. The absence of a, "leaving behind an X-month old sprog", and related GoFundMe, indicates it hadn't yet spawned. Although I agree that the drug deal did indeed go "horribly wrong": threegroids too many survived.

This is a perfect example of why illegal drugs should be legalized and regulated.

Aside from taking money away from criminiggers, it would also produce a safer product for the buyer, and the drugs can be taxed.

Of course, it would probably be safer to sell opium rather than heroin or fentanyl to the addicts. That way they are less likely to overdose and die, and you can get more tax dollars from them. If the government is selling the opium as a farm to table product, it could make even more money, especially if they own the poppy fields.

A dead customer is not a paying customer, however it might make sense to manufacture fentanyl so that undercover cops can sell the stuff to addicts that they can't dispose of otherwise (just a milligram or two would be enough to taint the opium and make the subject good). Many criminals tend to be opiate addicts, and I don't mean that in the sense that they are criminals because they like heroin; some of them are criminals because they have committed numerous non-drug related crimes.
