Missing Fort Hood soldier was victim in 'abusive sexual contact' investigation, Army says

Fort Hood soldier who has been missing since Monday had been transferred to a different unit because he was the victim in an "abusive sexual contact" investigation, the Army said.
Lt. Col. Chris Brautigam, a 1st Cavalry Division public affairs officer, told CNN in a statement that there is an "open investigation of abusive sexual contact" involving Sgt. Elder Fernandes and confirmed that Fernandes was the victim in the investigation.

QUANTICO, VA, August 21, 2020 – The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, commonly known as Army CID, is seeking the public’s help in locating missing Fort Hood Soldier, Sgt. Elder N. Fernandes.
Fernandes, 23, was last seen by members of his unit on August 17, 2020, at a residence in Killeen, Texas. He did not report to work the following day as scheduled. Additionally, his only known vehicle was located on base at his unit’s parking lot.
The Soldier is African American, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 133 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black Army physical training shirt and shorts with black, orange, and yellow athletic shoes.
He is a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear specialist assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB), 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade (1CDSB).
