You can't technically cure most viruses. Your body has to do the work. Medications for viruses can help alleviate symptoms caused by the virus or help the body to do it. In some cases actually regulating the immune system. In the case of Hydroxychloroquine the end goal is basically to reduce inflammation.

One can only assume that the bulk of those he "cured" did not actually have the virus. Much like most of the deaths due to COVID-19 claimed in the liberal sections of the USA likely never had the virus either.
