The Buffalo Police Advisory Board called on the police department and the Common Council to investigate an incident involving a young man who the board said was held down by police officers and repeatedly hit in the face.
A video shows two officers holding down the man, who is on the ground near the back of a car. One of the officers hits him in the head several times. The incident occurred Sunday, according to the advisory board.
"Get off of him!" an unseen woman yells. "Stop! You're going to hurt him. Get off of him!"
It is not clear what led to the confrontation.
Common Council Majority Leader David A. Rivera said he had seen the video on the advisory board’s website.
“What we’ve seen so far is a video of a police officer using some force. We don’t know what led up to the use of force,” Rivera said.
