Some of the refugee porn movies also feature the Arabic language or other foreign tongues as part of their narratives in a further attempt to present migrants as mysterious, out-of-place objects of sexual desire.
"I find it important to move away from primarily thinking of phenomena like refugee porn as something related to humiliation and violence and rather look at them as a means to approach things that are perceived as being exotic and foreign. Sexuality is one way to familiarize yourself with new things," says Jakob Pastötter.
