The Witcher franchise has a large following in China, largely because of CD Projekt Red’s famous video games, adapted from the stories of Polish novelist Andrzej Sapkowski. The new Netflix show based on the series has had a decent reception in the country. But others are struggling to see past the skin color of some characters.


“US show Witcher has inevitably gone overboard with political correctness,” a popular Chinese online commentary read.
The Witcher series is inspired by Slavic folklore, and many of the characters in the game are white. The Netflix series, released just ahead of Christmas, features actors of different ethnicities.
Three major characters, for instance, are all portrayed as white in the games: Yennefer of Vengerberg, Triss Merigold and Fringilla Vigo. In the Netflix series, all three are played by non-white actors.

It’s not just the characters that don’t match their gaming counterparts that are drawing complaints. Dara, an elf invented for the series, is played by black actor Wilson Radjou-Pujalte.
“Not that it is unacceptable to plug in a bunch of black actors. But at least it has to make sense… In the universe of The Witcher, there are no black elves,” a Chinese commentator wrote.

For a laugh she is actually referred to as a quadroon in the "Witcher Universe" for being 1/4 elf. I had posted earlier in the Movies and TV section about this out of curiosity and this answers my question there. Nigflix inserted niggers into yet another place where they do not belong. When do we get to outrage niggers by casting a white person to play a nigger role?

It actually really surprised me they did not make Yennfer a nigger and the "evil" mage a white woman. But I think the main audeinece for this show would be quite upset if Yennefer was a nigger and not even bother. They would have the diversity crowd which they got with nigger elves and nigger mages but would lose out on the fantasy boner group that makes up the majoirty of people who would watch it.

It's a pet peeve of mine as well. Middle-Ages niggers in Europe were beasts of burden. NEVER anything more. They didn't vote, they didn't get gibs, the only time they spoke was when being addressed by their masters, and only to either confirm an order given to them, or to give explanation for something they did or stole before being fed to the dogs, and NO ONE gave a fuck what they thought about anything. And if they EVER lifted their eyes to ogle the white women, they were dealt with quickly and harshly. In those days, women didn't have much of a say in anything (ain't suggesting it's right), so you can bet your ass niggers said less. Pack horses had more value than a nigger, never mind battlefield steeds.

When Ubisoft developed FarCry5 (which I enjoyed the hell out of) people screamed racist that there were originally no niggers in the enemy group that you fight. So when they developed the follow up, FarCry New Dawn, they made the villains both she boons.

The strained “diversity” of the cast may just be a sign that Ubisoft, like a lot of the game industry, is starting to make some efforts at inclusion.


After spending a few weeks with Far Cry 5, I’ve come to the regretful conclusion that there are way too many black people in this game.

It’s not that I dislike black people, in fiction or in real life (full disclosure: I am black). It’s just that for a series that prides itself on realism, my experience of constantly bumping into assault rifle–toting black people in the forests of Montana just seems unrealistic.

Actually, I agree with the nigger VICE writer, there should be no niggers at all in FarCry5. It's about self sufficient, survivalist prepper types trying to defend themselves against an extreme religious cult that tries to convert everyone to their cult in a remote, secluded mountainous area in Montana. Niggers don't dig survivalism, prepping, self sufficiency or religion. How many niggers want to live in a remote mountainous area in a self built cabin?
