The mother of a Richmond toddler who died after a sexual assault spoke out following her daughter's death. Nariah Brown was 17 months old. The toddler died from injuries she suffered after a violent sexual assault at a South Richmond motel, police said. Her mom, Aija Brown, said she left her daughter in the room with a person she trusted.

On October 19, 2015, Aija Brown was arrested pursuant to an investigation into the past sexual abuse of a younger male relative. Aija Brown, on her own volition, admitted to commiting the crimes and subsequently turned herself in to the Dauphin County Judicial Center. Ms. Brown was fully processed and given $25,000 straight bail.
