George Mwinnyaa was born in a remote village in Ghana, grew up in a mud house without electricity or running water, and attended school outdoors beneath a tree. He traveled a long path for his education, first working as a health worker in the African countryside then taking classes at community colleges in Nevada. He earned a scholarship to Johns Hopkins University and will graduate with honors Wednesday and a bachelor's degree in public health.
