Canadian boxer Adonis Stevenson is in a critical condition in hospital after losing the World Boxing Council light heavyweight title to Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

The 41-year-old was knocked out in the 11th round in Quebec City on Saturday night.

Stevenson was put on a stretcher and left Videotron Centre in an ambulance.

I had a friend who was hardcore into MMA and he took a long business trip to Russia once in the early 2000s. What he saw in the gyms there while working out with the locals pretty much blew his mind. He said that it's his honest opinion that if they imported the cream of the Russian and Eastern European MMA fighters to the US they would absolutely destroy all the prancing monkeys we call fighters here.
