Here's an educational question for ya, Odin...

A lot of these stories make some kind of differentiation between police and 'armed police'...Understanding that the UK once had street-corner Bobbies that usually had only a whistle and some wood shampoo, is that still a thing in the UK, 'unarmed police'? If so, I'd submit that's where they should start their problem solving. An unarmed law enforcement officer is just a victim wearing a uniform, with a radio to let everyone else know they're being killed. Or so it seems to me. Please enlighten.

Our Police 'service' (its not a force any more) still pride themselves on being unarmed. They generally only carry cuffs, a telescopic baton, vinyl gloves and a small first aid kit with a radio and mobile phone.

There are different units of the armed police, ranging from diplomatic protection (same as the above, but with an MP5 and a sidearm all the way up to the anti terror units who look more like your SWAT teams.

These tend to be made up of ex specialist military units like Paras or Marine commandos.

The indigenous population still respect the unarmed version. If they stop you and ask that you turn out your pockets, you do it and you are on your way in under 5 minutes.

It could be argued that the permanently armed police units are a response to nigger on nigger gang crime (operation Trident) and other imported problems from the third world.

Although I do agree that if they were armed, the coon and muslim population would probably behave a lot better in public.

My experiences with the police have been generally positive. I live about a quarter mile from the local nick and they are always jovial and friendly when I am walking Elvis. I'm on first name terms with the Police who patrol the local park. They are unarmed and spend their time reuniting lost kids and dogs with their parents.

This is the image that the Police like to promote. Friendly, professional and helpful.
